Proving that it is indeed the year of the poet, spoken word poet G.R.E.E.D.S (Generating Rhymes to Engage the Enlightened Soul) has recently unleashed "Riot" in the run up to the launch of his new project Ready EP. Making poetry instantly accessible to a wide audience by merging it with acoustic sounds, indie, reggae, hip-hop and soul beat patterns his latest is supremely catchy, courtesy of Stinkahbell.

South London spoken word poet Yomi Sode, known as G.R.E.Ed.S (Generating Rhymes to Enlighten Engaged Soul) fuses his signature spoken word style with indie, reggae, hip hop and soul beat patterns in his new EP, Ready. Following on from debut project 'Volume in Silence' back in 2009 which was a much darker offering, G.R.E.Ed.S says, "Ready is a transition from the dark to a more comfortable place."

After a few months break and a change of venue, live music night Soul-D-Out UK returned on Friday November 11 at the Blag Club in Kensal Rise, West London. Although Frank Ocean and J Cole were both in town on the same night, the intimate venue provided the new home for the return of Soul-D-Out Live; hosted by D'Nyce of the legendary Rampage Crew with soulful R&B and Hip Hop provided by DJs Martin 'Liberty' Larner, Chuckie and Butch Kassidy.

Last Monday, indie pop band The Stow headlined at Cargo for the aptly named 'A Night with The Stow'. If you’re wondering who on earth The Stow are, you’re probably not alone. This relatively unknown band only popped up on the scene last year but whilst they could be considered rookies in the game, they’ve made some pretty impressive waves; having toured with VV Brown as a support act, performed at Glastonbury and been voted best live act at this years Camden Crawl. The band is headed by front man Haydn, who writes and arranges the songs while Shi provides powerful vocals, backed by Dave on bass Mike on guitar and Will on drums. Fresh from their mini tour of the UK, the main aim of the Cargo gig was to showcase new material and perform some tracks from their debut EP, Just Another Band.

"I am a product of my environment." London performer and poet G.R.E.E.D.S (Generating Rhymes to Engage the Enlightened Soul) performs his poem, "We Are" for Wize TV's Poets Lounge, a new feature showcasing poets and spoken word artists. Check out more material from G.R.E.E.D.S on his website....
