Nigerian poet and writer Yomi Sode grew up on a council estate in a deprived area of south London “where gangs, knives and guns were a fact of life”, but instead chose a life of art and expression.
Performing under the moniker G.R.E.E.D.S [‘Generating Rhymes to Engage the EnlightenD Soul’], Sampler 4 is his fourth installment of free downloads bringing “a new sound to performance poetry.”
In conjunction with West London producer Nutty P and the Boxfresh clothing brand, G.R.E.E.D.S.’ latest Sampler 4 takes the listener on a contemporary journey of spoken word through fusions of Hip Hop, Dubstep and Jazz, borrowing sonic inspiration from the likes of B.o.B‘s “Airplaines” (“Wake Up”), Aloe Blacc‘s “I Need A Dollar” (“Inner Strength”) and Mobb Deep‘s “Shook Ones Part II” (“Are You There?”).
