23 Nov Anthony David On Making Obama’s Playlist, Embracing ‘Neo Soul’ Labels & Songwriting Philosophy
Fresh off the stage from the previous night’s Atlanta Soul Sessions at Jazz Café, I caught up with Indie Soul artist Anthony David at a 14th floor restaurant on an overcast Friday afternoon in London. We sat down to talk about his career since his last visit to London in 2008.
"It depends on the city, but ultimately it’s more exciting for me to be over here [than perform in the US]. It’s almost unfair for you guys; it’s too easy, you win!" He jokes, his calm and warmly toned voice breaking into a hearty chuckle.
Last time the easygoing singer songwriter was in town, he played on Later With Jools Holland. "They wanted me to perform this particular song that they liked, which I had never performed and didn’t have an acoustic version of," he recalls.
"I was shook as hell! I was like, 'I can kill this other one' but they weren’t having it, so we went away and practised and got it down. I was nervous."

The Tea Party movement has been piping hot since the spring of 2009. In the minds of many on the progressive left and moderates, the election of President Obama has been the reason why the members of the Tea Party have been boiling over in their rage and dissatisfaction of where the country is headed.
The Tea Party has delivered candidates to the mainstream such as Sharron Angle, Ken Buck, Christine O’Donnell, Marco Rubio, Joe Miller, Rand Paul among countless others who have chosen to become a part of this political movement in this country. The only reason why these people have been able to become successful in their bids for various Senatorial and House of Representative seats is due to the failure of American citizens to exercise their full right to vote.
Why is it important to vote? 
Though known mostly for its political ties, Washington D.C. is a city filled with arts, culture and fashion. For first time visitors, seeing the well known national sites can give you a sense of the city’s history, but it won’t necessarily give you a taste of the city’s flavour. For that, you have to venture to some of the eclectic neighbourhoods where DC’s diverse populations come together.
In order to give a feel for what there is to do, see, eat and experience in DC, this mini guide is going to take you through the individual areas that make DC a truly great city. Most of the locations listed below are within walking distance so this could be done as a walking tour.
