Innovative literary organisation Book Slam are set to release their second annual (after last year's One For The Trouble) and it's shaping up to be a treat for anyone who's interested in culture and literature beyond the classical confines of the book, or the raw impact of a single track. The original, ground-breaking One For The Trouble: Book Slam Vol.1. was a project which invited 18 leading authors to contribute short stories based on song titles. The special release saw writers such as Jon Ronson, Simon Armitage, Helen Oyeyemi and Irvine Welsh pen diverse and hard-hitting stories using the music of Joy Division, Grandmaster Flash and many others. This year's volume, titled Too Much: Too Young, will include new stories by a long-list of talented authors, including David Nicholls (One Day; And When Did You Last See Your Father), West African-raised writer Chris Cleave, (whose debut novel Incendiary was adapted into a Michelle Williams-starring feature film) and best-selling literary talent Marina Lewycka, who began her incredible life in a refugee camp in Germany in '46.

She's the rebel with a definite cause; music artist, designer and all-round creative M.I.A. is taking a slight backseat from the music momentarily to showcase some of her artistic designs from over the years with a new coffee-table book as well as an art exhibit taking place in India. PAPER magazine took opportunity to catch up with the eclectic star to talk more in depth about her creativity and her journey through art.

M.I.A. has always been known not only for her musical abilities but for also being super creative, and has been one of very few people to push artistic boundaries with all her visuals whether it be with her clothing style or videos - so it comes as a no-brainer that she would put her thoughts and visions down on paper for a new book. The two-time Grammy nominated London born artist has now put together collages, photos and prints dating from her more recent inspirations whilst touring and all the way back to her time as a student at Central Saint Martin's art and design college in London; including artwork and also assorted lyrics along with portions of an exclusive interview from the normally private M.I.A., who candidly discusses personal events and themes that have influenced her art and music throughout her journey. Available in hardcover with a foreword by Steve Loveridge, M.I.A's artschool friend and creative collaborator, you can now purchase her self-titled book from Amazon or Barnes and Noble. In just a short period Jessie Jhas achieved so much and with the latest news it seems that there's no stopping the ambitious 24-year old. After announcing her 2013 Nice To Meet You arena tour last month, the chart-topping British singer and songwriter has revealed she will be releasing her first official autobiography of the same name in September.

It's been just over a year since his first book release titled My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, that opened the flood gates to criticism from his peers after being accused of 'dry snitching'. Killuminati P recently told XXL that his second book will only talk about his three and a half year stint in jail from October 2007 to March 2011 for criminal possession of a weapon; an aspect he left out in the first.

Now this is something only Snoop Dogg could have invented. The weed-worshiping rapper is planning to release a "smokable songbook", charmingly entitled Rolling Words. Not only is the whole thing made out of hemp, but the pages double up as fully usable rolling paper while the book's spine serves as a surface to light your match on (if you keep it old school like that).

Author Chibundu Onuzo's first novel, The Spider King's Daughter, was published by Faber and Faber on March 15, 2012. Prior to the release, I had the pleasure of attending the Black Book Swap event, where Onuzo took part in a Q&A session and reading. Onuzo's personal story is nothing short of amazing. Having written her first novel at the tender age of 19 and securing an agent and publisher within six months, a fact brought to light by a member of the audience, the modest author shied away from revelling in her achievements instead humbly accepting praise before moving on. The Nigerian author talked about her upcoming release, growing up in a Lagos town and her experience of the publishing process so far, taking great pleasure in reading excerpts from her debut novel and expanding on its characters.
