Innovative literary organisation
Book Slam are set to release their second annual (after last year's
One For The Trouble) and it's shaping up to be a treat for anyone who's interested in culture and literature beyond the classical confines of the book, or the raw impact of a single track.
The original, ground-breaking
One For The Trouble: Book Slam Vol.1. was a project which invited 18 leading authors to contribute short stories based on song titles. The special release saw writers such as
Jon Ronson,
Simon Armitage,
Helen Oyeyemi and
Irvine Welsh pen diverse and hard-hitting stories using the music of Joy Division,
Grandmaster Flash and many others.
This year's volume, titled
Too Much: Too Young, will include new stories by a long-list of talented authors, including
David Nicholls (
One Day; And When Did You Last See Your Father), West African-raised writer
Chris Cleave, (whose debut novel
Incendiary was adapted into a Michelle Williams-starring feature film) and best-selling literary talent
Marina Lewycka, who began her incredible life in a refugee camp in Germany in '46.
