The-Dream's latest project, a free album titled
1977, comes under his government name
Terius Nash. Apparently the head honchos at Def Jam weren't best pleased about original material being given away, free of charge. That being said, the album is still vintage RadioKilla; if you've been under a rock for the last four years, vintage Dream is chauvinistic pop R&B, with witty and crude references for days, in tandem with the biggest gangsta rap attitude a singer could possibly have. Beyonce,
Rihanna and
Justin Bieber as some just of the names he has listed as clients, The-Dream's strengths are not his vocal chords, or lack of them, but his songwriting.
A complex character of sorts, The-Dream is an incredibly talented individual who once in a while makes a questionable creative decision. With that said, when he’s on his game he’s really on his game. Returning with his fourth studio album [if you disregard the free-turned-salable Terius Nash: 1977], the aptly titled IV Play is commercially the most anticipated of his long plays; thanks to his high-profile Beyonce collaborations, Watch The Throne input and Grammy win for "No Church In The Wild."
Whilst the Maybach Music Group ran roughshot over the three months of inconsistent summer weather, the enigmatic powerhouse collective known as G.O.O.D Music was quietly creating a buzz akin to a tropical hurricane. News of the imprint’s joint album Cruel Summer began to surface as the group’s leader, Kanye West, spent this past summer adding lyrical muscle to affiliates Pusha T, Big Sean and 2 Chainz’ cuts [in addition to fleeing from the paparazzi with ‘new’ beau Kim Kardashian]. As we enter the Autumn months, can his collective create an ‘Indian Summer’ of substantial heat?

The nominees for the 16th annual MOBO Awards 
It's been a highly publicised turbulent year for Robyn 'Rihanna' Fenty, with her assault in February catapulting her into a strange place of sensationalised super stardom that even her mega-hit "Umbrella" didn't garner. But whilst she has been ever-present on blogs and gossip pages, she didn't utter a word on record and her silence transcended into music; we didn't hear so much as a leaked interlude until very recently.
Rihanna didn't talk until the promotional engine was in motion, leading many to regard Rated R as the aural response to her relationship with Chris Brown.
