Curren$y’s new Jet Life compilation – the Jet World Order album was always going to be a smash. Released under Jets International/iHipHop Distribution, the album features fellow Jet members Young Roddy, Trademark Da Skydiver, Sir Michael Rocks, Nesby Phips, Corner Boy P and Street Wiz, plus Smoke Dza who definitely made his mark on hip hop this year with mixtape Rolling Stoned.
When we think of the Jet Life crew, instantly what comes to mind is a whole lotta weed, money, some more weed, more women and then rolling up another three or four blunts. Going to sleep then doing the whole thing all over again. They are serious rappers who do not take themselves too seriously, so listening to them is always a nice, chilled experience. Hip hop without all the melodramatics. Bass, drums and synths.
Trademark Da Skydiver & Young Roddy – “Paper Habits”:
“Paper Habits” and “Lop Sided” offer a warmer vibe than some of the other tracks. The delicate piano keys running through “Lop Sided” (Trademark Da Skydiver, Young Roddy & Nesby Phips) is easy listening with no heavy bass lines, and lyrically the flows come across as freestyles. Just a few dudes lounging around in the studio spittin’ and smoking trees.
Trademark Da Skydiver, Young Roddy & Nesby Phips – “Lop Sided”:
“Exhale” is the obligatory ‘Jet Life taking over’ joint and for me, is one of the standout tracks of the album, but “Blow Up” (produced by Monsta Beatz) is probably THE standout track. Hard spitting over a menacing beat full of bass.

The Jet Life bonus package boasts appearances from Big K.R.I.T. on tracks “ETC ETC” and “No Wheaties” – the hottest of all the bonus tracks. Big K.R.I.T. kills as always and I love the hook on this; We too hard to be crushed/ Too gone to be stuck/ Too fly to be touched/ Too much to be us/ So we, just let ‘em do they thing/ Cause we something like the A-team/ And I ain’t talking about they team/ I’m talking Super Bowl great team/ Undefeated all season/ Champion sh*t, no Wheaties/ Greetings…
Of the whopping 20 tracks (13 and 7 bonus tracks), Curren$y only features on half. As probably the most recognised member of Jet Life, he falls back and allows the rest of the crew to shine, whilst Trademark Da Skydiver appears overall on 17 of the tracks and Young Roddy makes appearances on 14 out of the 20. For those familiar with their music, this is no way messes with the overall vibe of the stoner message or style. There is not one weak joint on this meaty offering.
