Award-winning poet and acclaimed writer Dean Atta released his new poetry EP Love or Money about a week ago and has already been mentioned by several media sources, including a review by MTV. With all this attention, it'd be easy to forget that this is a poetry EP and not a chart-selling music compilation.

The Warner Music stable Maybach Music Group may very well be the next great powerhouse in Hip Hop to be acknowledged alongside the likes of Roc-A-Fella, Bad Boy and Death Row. The reason for this isn't the magnitude of hype/output that its leader Rick Ross possesses, its the crew's supporting cast who potentially will bring more than a few numbers to the table when history recalls MMG's glories. Arguably one of the breakout star of 2011, Meek Mill jumped at the chance to establish himself as a mainstay in Hip Hop, delivering verbal beatdowns as a featured artist and on his own impressive Dreamchasers mixtape, as the 23-year-old Philly young gunner delivers a sequel with more abrasive, young-wild-and-free narrations.

The-Dream's latest project, a free album titled 1977, comes under his government name Terius Nash. Apparently the head honchos at Def Jam weren't best pleased about original material being given away, free of charge. That being said, the album is still vintage RadioKilla; if you've been under a rock for the last four years, vintage Dream is chauvinistic pop R&B, with witty and crude references for days, in tandem with the biggest gangsta rap attitude a singer could possibly have. With Beyonce, Rihanna and Justin Bieber as some just of the names he has listed as clients, The-Dream's strengths are not his vocal chords, or lack of them, but his songwriting.

Since covering the XXL Freshmen '10, I feel I've grown closer to each of the protagonists selected, this being due to the amount of research I had to put into finding out abut them. As a consequence, I now find myself being drawn to any release from them due to the amount of time spent listening to their material. Wiz Khalifa is the first of the ten to produce something new for me to dissect. Taking the independent route after a brief spell with Warner, Khalifa has done enough to generate a buzz, with singles "Say Yeah" and "This Plane" being notable accomplishments.  Kush & Orange Juice ultimately throws Khalifa into the mix of names which many expect to provide something solid for the year - and possibly set any standard for the rest of his Freshman affiliates to catch up to.

lupe-enemyofthestate scrate3_5 What does Lupe Fiasco have to do to get some props in Hip Hop? That’s the question many of his faithful following ask whenever the name Lupe Fiasco and the phrase “Best rapper in Hip Hop” are in the same sentence. Two critically acclaimed albums in, which warranted praise from some of the greats, he has yet to win over the majority of rap fans. With the Lasers LP set for a 2010 release, what could Lupe do to score a few more points from the Hip Hop crowd? Simple - return to the mixtape scene which allowed him to reach the position where he could be discussed as a Hip Hop great.
