Chris Rock's Good Hair documentary style is impartial which enriches the journalistic format, but surprisingly makes him tamed and uninspiring. This is actually the antitheses of Mr. Rock - he's strange and uncharacteristic. He wants to kick knowledge on this one, but falls short - if you squeeze the juice out of the orange it's far from dry but will hardly quench your thirst.

Pixação is a documentary that I first caught up with when it was first screened in Paris in July in 2009 at the Cartier Foundation.  It was later to be showed in October 2009 during the 33rd International Film Festival in Sao Paulo.  This one hour plus film was directed by Joao Wainer and Roberto T. Oliveira, with commentaries by Wainer and endeavours to decipher the motivation, circumstances and environment of graffistas in Sao Paulo who have developed a unique form of graffiti in Brazil since the 80s: the pixação.

gil An interesting documentary I just stumbled across: Originally aired on the BBC in 2004, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: A Film About Gil Scott-Heron features contributions from disciples such as Chuck D and Mos Def as well as music from his career stretching back over 20 albums to the early '70s.
Gil Scott-Heron is the Godfather of rap. His confrontational, no-nonsense street poetry and intelligent song writing skills have inspired the modern Hip-Hop generation and he is arguably one of the most significant musicians and poets in Afro-American history.
