It seems that popular BBC radio jock Tim Westwood has been relieved of his hosting duties for the daily 4-7pm block and will soon be hosting a new show on Sunday nights.

An obviously unhappy Westwood broke the news via his Twitter account earlier this afternoon:

Despite his tweets, Westwood hasn’t actually been fired from the station; he’s simply being removed from his usual late afternoon-early evening timeslot and plugged into the 7-9pm block on Sundays. He will also continue hosting his popular Saturday night show.

“Tim has proved to be one of the most influential figures in UK hip-hop and I’m delighted that he will continue to bring his wealth of knowledge and unique style to Radio 1 and 1Xtra across the weekends,” Ben Cooper, Controller for Radio 1 and 1Xtra, said in a statement.

The move is part of a number of changes to 1Xtra’s lineup, including a new drive time show hosted by Charlie Sloth and the addition of 21-year-old Yasmin Evans to the station’s weekend breakfast show.

“As 1Xtra nears its 10th birthday it’s great to be welcoming a new generation of presenters to the station who will take on the baton of championing the best in urban music for a young audience,” Cooper said.

The changes will take effect in September. Preview the new programming schedule below:
