Prodigy denies Mobb Deep beef rumors, says group tried to ‘use this to our advantage’ [Video]

Mobb Deep fans were somewhat shook after disparaging tweets about Prodigy were recently sent from Havoc‘s Twitter account, fearing that one of rap’s longest-tenured duos had split. Havoc denied sending the messages, first blaming them on an anonymous stranger who’d found the producer’s phone after he’d lost it, but many felt that excuse to be bogus since the tweets seemed to have been sent from a computer and not from a phone. Then Havoc issued a statement saying his Twitter account was hacked and that was the reason for the shocking tweets.

Now, in a recent sitdown with Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds, Prodigy adds another twist to the already confusing drama by writing off the whole debacle as… well, he never really explained what it was. He actually made it all a bit more confusing by stopping just short of calling the whole thing a publicity stunt.

The saga continues.

“We ain’t say nothing about it, we didn’t get up on Twitter right away and say, ‘It’s bogus,’ so that’s probably why people think we set it up or something. But we just waited for a minute,” Prodigy said. “Me and Havoc is businessmen. We stepped back and was like, ‘Alright, how can we use this to our advantage? We were like, ‘Alright, we got a record about to drop.'”

So first it was a stolen phone, then it was a hacking, now it might have all been a publicity stunt? This is making my head hurt.

At the end of the day, I’m just glad the Mobb is still standing together. Publicity stunts are corny; hopefully their next project isn’t.

Grab some Tylenol and check out the interview for yourself.
