Omar – “The Man” | New Music

One of the UK’s most prestigious soul artists, Omar, is back once again, this time on a new record label – recently signed to Freestyle Records – with a new single – “The Man.”

There are few artists whose influence extends as far as Omar’s. Not only with a classic record under his belt – “There’s Nothing Like This” – the crooner’s collaboration list stretches to the far mounds of excellence. Having worked with the likes of Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Common and Carleen Anderson, the London-born icon’s biggest praise probably comes from the legendary Stevie Wonder – “When I grow up, I wanna be like Omar.”

Released May 27th, instrumentally “The Man” plays like a Blaxploitation pimp scene one minute, while the next it comes across as delicate as the colour on a butterfly’s wing. Meshing dirty funk with sanitary soul, it’s a track that will have you swagger jacking the likes of Rudy Ray Moore and Ron O’Neal in no time at all.
