No Malice x Ab-Liva – “Smoke & Mirrors” | Music Video

ab liva no malice smoke & mirrors

Just last week, No Malice and Ab-Liva delivered the Illmind-produced track “Smoke & Mirrors.” Today, The Re-Up Gang representatives followed up with a video directed by Shomi Patwary.

What I always found fascinating about The Clipse (and their affiliates) was the spirituality that filled their music. Their drug-dealer pasts were definitely glorified but there was always a sense of remorse and accepted responsibility in their lyrics. The video for “Smoke & Mirrors” is littered with (overt) symbolism that punctuate No Malice and Ab-Liva’s tales of hustlers’ woes. Flaming baby carriages, blindfolded children and a mime stationed in the projects are the primary visuals that accentuate the rhymes.

There’s even a Pusha T cameo to fuel speculation on his involvement in both emcees upcoming projects, or vice versa.

Have a look at the video below and check out my all-time favourite Clipse video, “The Funeral,” afterwards. Notice any similarities?
