V V Brown ft. Kele Okereke – “Faith” | Music Video

From her electro inspired Samson & Delilah LP, V V Brown unveils the video for “Faith” featuring the vocals of Bloc Party‘s Kele Okereke.

Shifting well away from the radio-pop sensibilities of her debut album Travelling Like the Light, released through Island Records in 2009, the Northampton-born singer embraced a more experimental, electronic soundscape for her Samson & Delilah album, which saw independent release last year through her own label, YOY Records, to critical acclaim and was co-produced by The Invisible frontman Dave Okumu.

The third single to be taken from that album, “Faith” is an enchanting song of liberation that dances between sombre and uplifting as the pair “belly-flop into a swimming pool of sound.” The artsy video, which doesn’t feature Okereke, hones in on V V singing as she stares comfortably into the camera, face smeared with glittering makeup, while the screen splits around her.

“When I wrote the song ‘Faith’, it came from a place where I wanted to truly just get back to basics,” Brown wrote in a recent article for HuffPost. “There was a time where we would look to the sun and truly wonder in its glory and now all we do is look into the sun of a computer screens. What we believe in defines so much of who we are and I hold on and have faith that our generation will truly believe in something other than a best dressed list or celebrity birth.”
