Big K.R.I.T. – “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” | Music Video

One of the most charming things about Big K.R.I.T.’s music is the way his lyrics invite you into the past and evoke the emotion of a particular moment.

In this new visual for “Rich Dad, Poor Dad“, one of the simplest, hardest-hitting tracks on his major label debut Live From The Underground, he takes us back to his childhood and teenage years, delivering a sentimental vision, or visions, using that favourite technique of kids (and I’m sure a few adults) everywhere, a flip-book. With bailed bikes and basketballs descending under the Mississippi sun, it’s one of the most vivid accounts of growing up I’ve seen in a rap video, as bright and clear as childhood itself, but there’s someone missing, and it’s only at the end that we see the face of the “rich dad, poor dad” that raised K.R.I.T to be the man he is today.
