Angel feat. Sneakbo – “Ride Out” | Official Music Video

With each track (and video) that drops, Island Records singer Angel is looking more and more like the real thing. This track, featuring underground sensation Sneakbo, is an undeniable summer banger that reminds me a lot of TQ‘s classic joints from over a decade ago. It’s a catchy anthem with a great sing-a-long chorus, but there’s no compromise in terms of sound here – no sign of ravey synths or pounding dance drums.

“Ride Out” follows “Popstar” which featured a massive appearance from UK road rap godfather Giggs. Both tracks are taken from the singer’s forthcoming EP 7 Minutes Before Time.

On another note, it’s great to see a relatively new artist putting out quality material with a view to actually releasing some product for his fans. I don’t know whether Angel’s EP is being released commercially or as a free download but I strongly believe that getting fans new and old into the habit of paying for your material is invaluable – just look at Ed Sheeran, who dropped a series of EPs independently before his major label debut single had even dropped. It meant that new fans who discovered him as his buzz built had a wealth of material to both listen to and pay for if they saw fit. Very important.

Watch out for a wealth of cameos too, from RD, Cleo Sol and Preeya Kalidas to Bluey Robinson, Ronnie Herel and the BBC Radio 1Xtra studios. Great to see the UK scene supporting each other once again.
