Morgan Heritage – “Perfect Love Song” | Music Video

Morgan Heritage's latest album, "Here Come The Kings".

After five years of focusing on their solo projects, renowned reggae group Morgan Heritage have reunited for their 10th album, Here Come The Kings.

The sibling group, which consists of Peetah (vocals), Una (keyboard/vocals), Gramps (keyboard/vocals), Lukes (rhythm guitar) and Mojo (percussion/vocals), explores new sounds which fuse roots, R&B and a hint of dancehall on their recent release.

Among the famed producers who co-produced the album with Morgan Heritage are, Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett, Linton “TJ” White, Lamar “Riff Raff” Brown (Notice Productions), Shane C. Brown (Juke Boxx Productions) and multiple Grammy nominee, Jason “J-Vibe” Farmer.

The new album’s debut single and accompanying video, “Perfect Love Song” immediately goes in for the musical kill with its hypnotic hook courtesy of lead singer, Peetah. The complementary harmonies from the other band members and easy skanking reggae beat makes it poised not only for success among Caribbean reggae fans, but also mainstream listeners.

The group, which grew up listening to not only reggae and R&B [“but it was hip hop, it was Jazz and rock,” according to group member Una], has had moderate international success with previous releases. However, with a video which noticeably features predominantly Caucasian fans who rush to listen to the group at a house party, it seems the group has their eyes set on the mainstream bull’s eye this time around.

Expectantly, life will mirror art and international fans will be flocking to listen to the sexy reggae single which is not only slow enough for fans everywhere to appreciate the rhythm, but also hear the words – a problem with many reggae and dancehall singles. In a nutshell, a fitting assessment of the single comes from Gramps in the single’s outro; “Nice and easy, warm and easy, take you to my sweet island of Jamaica, make everything nice…give you the Heritage spice.”
