Kendrick Lamar fires back at Drake in BET Cypher? “Nothing’s been the same since they dropped Control”

As we await the broadcasting of the recently recorded BET Hip-hop Awards there appears to be some more fuel added to the fire, and a further talking point in the recent controversy surrounding Kendrick Lamar‘s now infamous “Control” verse.

As with every year the BET Hip-hop Cyphers provide us with the opportunity to see our favourite MC’s rub shoulders to showcase their rhymes in the arena of Hip-hop’s origins – one DJ, one turntable and nothing but a beat and rhymes. TDE complete with new signee Isaiah Rashad, lined up for their cypher but all eyes will be on Kendrick Lamar as the Cali rapper quickly seized the opportunity, sending a veiled-but-direct shot in the direction of OVO chief Drake.

And nothing been the same since they dropped, “Control” and tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pyjama clothes / Ha, Ha, jokes on you, high-five, I’m bullet-proof / Your shots will never penetrate me, pin a tail on the donkey, boy you been a fake

This all follows comments in recent interviews – in particular with Angie Martinez –  where the Toronto star appeared to question the motives behind Kendrick’s verse on the Big Sean track, claiming “it wasn’t real to me” and “I don’t know whether it was worth it”.
