Keke Palmer – ‘Keke Palmer’ [Mixtape] | Stream/Free Download

While 19 year old Keke Palmer works on her currently untitled sophomore album, she serves up a self-titled R&B mixtape to tie us over.

Having released her first album So Uncool in 2007 followed last year with the mixtape Awaken, the Harvey, Illinois native explores her coming of age experiences as a young woman on the project; as she sings about love lost, moving on, holding on to who she is and the feelings that ensue upon the cusp of falling in love.

The Kevin McCall-assisted “You Got Me,” which was also released as her first single from the new album, is the only collaboration included on the seven-track project, with standout tracks including R&B cuts “Rather Walk Alone,” “I Can’t Sleep At Night” and “Dance Alone.”

The young starlet, who has featured in the films Ice Age: Continental Drift, Joyful Noise, Madea’s family Reunion and Akeelah and the Bee, illustrates solid vocals throughout the mixtape but we’re hoping for some more sonic and lyrical diversity/depth on the upcoming album.
