Kardinal Offishall – “Kill Shot” (Prod. Nottz) | New Music

Like many a commercial success before him, Kardinal Offishall, though best known for his “Dangerous” hit with Akon, was once rooted in under-the-radar hip hop. With his joint album with producer Nottz, entitled A.M.T.R.I.M. (Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself), on the horizon, all fingers point towards the Canadian rapper’s return to that raw, lyrical landscape.

“Kill Shot” is the second leak from the forthcoming record (the first being “1st 48”) and pairs tough, quintessentially ’00s production, a la Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, with forward-thinking lyrical direction from the Kardinal.

Passing on the perfect platform to get his “ignorant thug” on, the emcee instead explores the flipside to violence in the streets, rapping: “This is disturbing, dying over what – an argument because you wasn’t controlling your temper? / When they say we animals we always take offence, but we never think it over when our boy get tense.”

There’s no concrete release date for A.M.T.R.I.M. currently, but we’ll welcome further early releases with open arms.
