Justin Timberlake’s ‘The 20/20 Experience’ tops Billboard charts, nearly 1 million copies sold

After already being announced as the UK number one, Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience has now been confirmed as hitting the top spot in the Billboard US charts this week – with record making sales of almost one million copies of the album sold in its first week.

According to Nielson SoundScan, Timberlake’s comeback album has sold 968,000 copies in its first week which smashes sales for his last number one album, Futuresex/Lovesounds in 2006, by almost 300,000 copies.

Justin is joined by the likes of Taylor Swift and Lil Wayne who have most recently made these kind of staggering sales; Taylor with her 2012 album Red and Wayne with Tha Carter III release in 2008.

This goes to show that all the promo Timberlake did in the run up to the album release really did pay off; which included a stint on Saturday Night Live, a week-long of performances and interviews on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, as well as performances at the Grammys and BRIT Awards.

Congrats JT!
