Flying Lotus f/ Earl Sweatshirt – ‘Between Friends’ | New Music
Whether you rate or berate the Odd Future crew, you have to respect their exclusive approach to outside collaborations. It was pretty obvious that Earl Sweatshirt is a fan of electronic producer Flying Lotus, having been spotted wilding out to his set at Coachella back in April, and now the lyrically-acclaimed teen spitter has bagged himself a track with the DJ.
With FlyLo’s gentle, keys-laced boom bap setting the scene, Earl spearheads “Between Friends”, involving himself in a lyrical dialogue with an unidentified guest called Captain Murphy. Conversing/rhyming via a voice-altering filter, he draws resemblance to his close friend and fellow Golf Wang-er Tyler, The Creator‘s “Golden”.
