Drake’s Take Care LP tops Billboard charts with 631,000 sold in week 1 | Music News

As predicted, the Canadian Young Money repping rapper Drake flew straight in at the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts with his sophomore album release Take Care. The LP which sold 631,000 copies in the first week takes the title of the third highest week one sales of 2011 behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way (which sold 1.1 million) and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV start (which sold 964,000 units).

Although the numbers were a little lower that initial reports predicted (675,000 to 750,000), this number is nothing to scoff at as Drake has managed to sell more than his 2010 debut Thank Me Later, which sold 447,000 in the first week.

Salute That!
