Danielle Parente : Get Familiar
Last month we took a trip to Los Angeles, California and whilst having lunch poolside at the Mondrian hotel in West Hollywood (Asia De Cuba FTW by the way), we were introduced to the music of this beautiful new talent by the name of Danielle Parente and HAD to share it with you guys.
Currently doing her rounds on the New York City live circuit, the fresh faced talent who studied Fine Arts in Upstate New York, before changing lanes and studying audio engineering and production at the Institute of Audio Research in Manhattan, is capturing the attention of not only a smitten growing fanbase but some of the most influential industry movers and shakers.
The Brooklyn based singer songwriter, who cites the likes of Sade, Sia, Lauryn Hill, Bjork, Radiohead, Fiona Apple and Imogen Heap as some of her influences, not only caught our attention with the stunning visuals (directed by Tommaso Cardile) for her Nina Simone “Feeling Good” channeling single and LP title track “The Way That I Feel”, but blew us away with her soulful yet sultry vocals and hypnotic melodies accentuated by the powerful musical soundbed.
Another highlight from her independently released album, which is an excellent blend of electronic, soul, blues, soft rock and jazz influences, is the chimerical “Cellophane Dreams” with it’s perfectly building soundbed accented by Ms Parente’s soothing vocals topped off with a stunning accompanying video.
Trust me when I say this young lady is set for huge things in the near future. Stay locked for a lot more from Danielle Parente on SoulCulture very soon and if you like what you heard/watched make sure you hit iTunes and catch up with her progress online below.

Love it!
There are very few real artists out there anymore. With the advent of technology these days, it seems to come down to money and who you know and the heART and soul of music seems to have faded away……..until you listen to Danielle. A true artist has the ability to not only sing, but also write music. She has incredible talent in song writing and finds a way through words that many fail at. Her voice is sultry, jazzy, and reaches in and grabs your soul with a subtleness that you can’t control. Suddenly, without knowing it, you are playing the songs again and again and again…… Most “musicians” can’t perform live, if at all. Danielle nails it every time she sings. Anytime that I can possibly see her perform live—it is well worth it. She is amazing. Her music breath taking. What music is supposed to be.
Beautiful voice!
Checked her out on a few different occasions and she killed it whether it be full band our acoustic. The lyrics are what get me every time. They are creative with slight plays on words. I highly recommend getting out to catch her if you can.
She has such a killin’ band!
your gonna have to listen to her album twice through blasting in your head phones….and then your going to realize that you need to listen to it again..and again…and then show your friends.
Here is a young artist who has found her own voice, is working hard, self producing and writing great tunes and deserves to be heard more. Spread the word on this fine talent.
DANIELLE the best watch out for this new shit for real. – FELIX SNOW
