Chockz The Rapper – More Than A Rapper | Free Mixtapes Series

Step forward up-and-coming East London emcee Chockz The Rapper with his conceptual mixtape series,  More Than A Rapper, which Chockz kicked off in late 2009 with the release of his debut mixtape, More Than A Rapper Vol. 1. The series was created to display his specific talents as an emcee, singer, song writer and producer across a range of styles and subject matters, over three separate short mixtapes/EPs.

More Than A Rapper Vol. 2.0: The Rapper is where Chockz’ shows off the more lyrical and braggadocio side to his persona. Flowing over the tape’s jump off track (and Drake instrumental), “Miss Me Refix,” Chockz spits, “…I’m like ay ay capo / I’m out suede, dasfao / fresh dressed to impress pacco…” and a few double entendres like, “…some of these punches are double / I’m so on the rocks they mistake me for rubble…”

On More Than A Rapper Vol. 2.1: The Lover Chockz lets his guard down a bit to show his more softer side [pause] using the tape to display his burgeoning talent as a singer. The Lover showcases Chockz’ smooth baritone vocals on tracks such as “One Chance”, “Only You Interlude”, “Only You (Your Bed)” and on the hook on “What You Need”.

More Than A Rapper Vol. 2.2: The Thinker is the tape where the East London emcee puts on his thinking cap and gets a bit serious, rhyming about social issues and wanting to do better for himself and his family. On this volume Chockz rhymes over Hip Hop favorites such as DJ Jazzy Jeff‘s soulful “For Da Love Of Da Game” instrumental (for “Love What We Do”), Kanye West‘s “Devil In a Red Dress” and Jay Electronica‘s “Exhibit A”.
