Beyonce talks motherhood with People magazine: “My number one job is to protect her”

Being dubbed the most beautiful woman in the world by People magazine, Beyonce sat down with them for an interview to put to bed some rumours that have been swirling around by honestly discussing her new life as a mother, how it has changed her and how she plans on getting her body back into shape.

Being a first-time parent, the 30 year old superstar is relishing in her new role as a mother, gushing about Blue Ivy. “I’m obsessed with Blue,” she says. “I just stare at her all day. She is my favorite thing in the world and my number one job is to protect her.”

Beyonce was one of the celebrities who came under criticism for wearing high heels all throughout her pregnancy, but is now having a change of heart, totally changing her thoughts on footwear. “I never thought there would be a day when I wouldn’t wear heels. Now that I have a child, I walk around holding her all day, I’m buying loafers and oxfords. I love them because they’re comfortable.”

Hubby Jay-Z doesn’t seem to mind at all, and infact likes her more laid back look. “He loves it when I wear flat shoes, which is surprising – he never saw me in flats before! He likes me more natural – just the relaxed, natural me.”

Talking about her new look a bit more, the normally glamourous Queen B runs us through her style nowadays. “I’ve been mostly wearing my hair slicked back in a ponytail and no makeup, just sunglasses and lip gloss. When I’ve just gotten out of the shower, I feel really beautiful then. When [my makeup] is off and I can feel my own skin.”

Being in the spotlight means added pressure for stars to lose their baby weight and go on crazy diets, and although the singer says breast-feeding helped her lose most of the weight, she’s now on a strict, protein based diet, and works out three times a week. She talks about her new body saying, “I’m definitely softer, but I feel my body bouncing back. And no, I don’t have a trainer living with me.”

Beyonce will be back on stage for three nights in Atlantic City on May 25th – May 27th for Memorial Day weekend.
