Adele’s 21 LP named the UK’s best-selling album of 21st Century | Music News

Despite her health issues this year, singer and songwriter Adele’s 21 has been crowned the UK’s biggest-selling album of the 21st Century, according to Official Chart Company figures.

Taking the title from the late Amy Winehouse’s Black To Black album, which sold 3,387,929 copies, 21 is currently on its 45th consecutive week in the Top 10 UK album chart, has so far shifted 3,418,131 copies, becoming the biggest selling album of the century in the UK and the 11th biggest selling album of all time in the UK.

Having achieved this in less than a year – as 21 was released on January 24 in the UK – Adele has also received six Grammy nominations for the 2012 awards, nominated in the categories; Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Short Form Music Video for “Rolling In the Deep,” and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Someone Like You.”

Salute to Adele.
