Action Bronson – ‘Blackbird’ (Prod. Thelonious Martin) | New Music

Since establishing his rep as one of hip-hop’s most gifted emcees – not to mention the genre’s most colourful characters – last year, Action Bronson has notched collaborations with some high caliber producers (The Alchemist, Harry Fraud and Party Supplies, to name just a few).

Having weaved his lyrical bars – a crop that draw ridiculous resemblance to Ghostface Killah – over Thelonious Martin’s sublime “Dear Heather” instrumental, accompanied by Rockie Fresh and Macie Stewart, back in February, the butterball emcee, once again, finds himself at the helm of a gem from one of Chicago’s most promising beatsmiths.

This time, the pair connect for the funky confident, “Blackbird”, to be featured on Ruby Hornet’s Closed Sessions Vol. 2 compilation, which is due out in August in partnership with MTV2 Sucker Free. Alexander Fruchter gives some interesting insight into how this track came about.
