9th Wonder – ‘The Wonder Year’ | Documentary Preview

Last year, we saw the trailer of The Wonder Year, a documentary filmed by Kenneth Price which chronicles a year in the life of Grammy award-winning hip-hop producer 9th Wonder, providing viewers with a closer look at his Winston-Salem roots, his personal and family life and, of course, his impeccable craft. Today, the first eight minutes of this film has been made available.

In the preview, which you can watch below, we get to see 9th formally introduce himself and speak on his brand of music, what he dubs “Life Music”, learn how a Digable Planets song birthed the name “9th Wonder”, watch him teach a hip-hop class at North Carolina’s Duke University (he serves as a music professor at the College) and talk beats with fellow producers The Alchemist and Oh No.

To own a full copy of The Wonder Year, you can donate to the production of a new 9th Wonder documentary entitled The Harvard Fellow, which will follow him through 12 months of teaching at Harvard University, where he has been newly appointed. Do so by visiting the documentary’s kickstarter page.
