Bobby Womack hospitalized, reportedly in the first stage of colon cancer | News

Distressing news as music legend, Bobby Womack, has been hospitalized and is reportedly in the early stages of colon cancer. BET reported earlier that the 68 year old Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee was taken to hospital struggling with a serious bout of pneumonia.

Fellow musician and legend, Bootsy Collins, took to Twitter to implore fans to pray for the hospitalised Womack. Collins tweeted; “Funkateers, send prayers & love vibes up for Bobby Womack. He is fighting pneumonia in the hospital now. Will update after I talk to him”, followed by an update moments ago “I JUST SPOKE TO OUR FRIEND BOBBY WOMACK. He Wanted You All to Know That He Loves You & Thxs for the Prayers. Docs Says He Is In 1st Stage of Colon Cancer, He is Very Up Beat About His Future, we laughed & joked before we hung up. Thxs Funkateers, we will get him Back on the One!”

Today’s news provides another sad episode of bad health for the iconic singer-songwriter who has suffered from prostate cancer and drug abuse in the past. Earlier this month Womack was forced to cancel a scheduled performance as health issues prevented him from taking to the stage in Houston.

Womack is set to release The Bravest Man in the Universe – his first record in over ten years in June. Fans and music lovers worldwide will be hoping the music legend stages an even greater and important comeback, praying only for his health.

All prayers are with Bobby Womack and his family.
