Melanie Fiona x Tinchy Stryder talk New Albums & Collaborations | SoulCulture TV

Grammy nominated Canadian songstress Melanie Fiona and chart-topping UK emcee Tinchy Stryder talk about recording their respective new albums, The MF Life and Third Strike, and forthcoming collaborations – including their own, titled “Let It Rain.”

Tinchy recently became part of the Roc Nation ‘family’ [who manage Melanie Fiona] in their recent joint venture label deal, TakeOver Roc Nation.

Musically, Melanie caught Tinchy’s ear with “Give It To Me Right” and the two came together in London this summer to record “Let It Rain,” which Ms Fiona describes as a ‘powerful, positive’ track.

“Let It Rain” will feature on Tinchy Stryder’s new album, Third Strike.

Speaking further on his new album, Tinchy reveals, “I say in a song, ‘They tried to lock my future down, the keys they tried to hide.’ – That line alone means a lot to me. People always think, ‘What do you mean? We watch you on TV and everything’s cool. What are you complaining about?’ It’s not even complaints, but the reality of it.. like you say…

“Not everyone’s built to be in this industry… It’s hard.”

He tackles this theme in a new track he’s working on titled “Walk This Road,” which may appear on Third Strike; “I like the fame but where’s my bit of privacy?”

Following on from her debut album which featured no collaborations, Melanie has already recorded a duet with John Legend for her sophomore album The MF Life and reveals she would also like to work with B.o.B or Janelle Monae.
