Michael Jackson "Thriller" jacket sells for $1.8 million

The unforgettable red jacket that Michael Jackson wore in his seminal 1983 "Thriller" video has sold at auction for $1.8 million at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills. The jacket was worn by Michael in the scene with a group of zombies who rise from their graves straight into some classic choreography.

Let's refresh your memory.

The jacket will be sent on tour and used as a fundraising tool for children's charities and some of the money will go to the Shambala Preserve, a big cat sanctuary caring for two tigers Jackson owned.

To read our tribute to MJ in remembrance of his passing, let's return to this classics with the Bad album.

Remembering Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

Michael Jackson – a name that conjures up many thoughts. Hopefully most of them should be concerned with his phenomenal music career, which eclipses most super stars of our day.

Fast forward to the present day and Thriller is still the biggest selling album of all time and prior to his sad passing in 2009. Put that way, it would appear that very little had changed; well, career–wise anyway. And it is Michael’s career that deserves further exploration.
