SZA - "Sweet November" | New Music

There's not long to go now until SZA's new EP Z debuts next week, and smoothly boosting anticipation a delicious new song surfaces from the New Jersey residing TDE songstress.

"Sweet November" is a classy concoction to swoon over, drawing on the sounds of '70s soul for its dreamy soundbed as SZA huskily coos "Remember me for who I was, not who I am..." over the lush instrumentation of Marvin Gaye's "Mandota" [and crediting the late soul icon as 'producer']. Read more

Isaiah Rashad f/ SZA - "Ronnie Drake" | New Music

Isaiah Rashad Ronnie Drake

It was only back in September that TDE revealed they had added the Tennessee rapper Isaiah Rashad to their already impressive label but there's been a steady stream of solid releases ever since.

Today is no different as the mellow "Ronnie Drake" is let out to play featuring The Antydote behind the boards and fellow recent signee SZA floating on the hook. While the track differs in demeanour to the previously released "Shot U Down", we're quickly seeing why TDE were so feverish for Rashad to sign on the dotted line;  purposeful raps creatively wrapped in a unique, raw style. The same of which can be said for all of his label mates.

With no sign or whisper of an upcoming project from Isaiah Rashad, every release is like gold dust, but luckily for you the play button is right down below.

SZA discusses her signing to Top Dawg Entertainment [Video]

Screen Shot 2013-09-06 at 4.42.00 PM

SZA hit headlines a few weeks ago when the official announcement of her Top Dawg Entertainment signing came to light. The up-and-coming singer is not only the newest act signed to the West Coast label but also the first female.

"It’s really just more important to me to be a part of TDE, rather than the first female," shared SZA in a sit-down with MTV News. "They’ve worked with girls in the past, incredible artists like Alori Joh and Jhene Aiko. So for me, it’s just honestly being a part of a collective, such as TDE. That’s what’s more insane to me."

The 23-year-old singer joins the rap label roster's buzzing artists ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and the self-proclaimed king (and we all agree) Kendrick Lamar. Despite being the only girl in the label, SZA feels comfortable with the crew. "They don’t treat me like the girl, in the best ways though. No one tries to baby me or walk over me ’cause I’m a girl. They just let me fight for what I believe in and let me be as creative as I want to be and just give me free reign. So I love that."

And the best thing about being signed to TDE?

"They aren’t the kind of label that will give you a bottle of champagne and a car when you sign, but they’ll give you all the studio time you could ever ask for and every producer you could ever dream of and all the support you could ever want and that’s real."

ScHoolboy Q ft. Kendrick Lamar - "Collard Greens" | Music Video

collard greens

It's settled. TDE needs to throw a house (preferably a pool) party before it's starts getting cold because after watching this video, the crew seem like awesome hosts.

ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar are the hosts of a fun house party in the JeromeD-directed visual for "Collard Greens." About 90% percent of the guests are females, every man's dream, and even friend and fellow rapper, Macklemore, joins in on the fun. On top of the lively atmosphere, you'll see trippy kaleidoscope images of Kendrick and Q... and a bouncing Q head! Yes, still wearing his staple bucket hat. Fun video for an equally fun single.

ScHoolboy Q is getting ready to drop his Interscope Records/Top Dawg Entertainment debut Oxymoron soon. Watch the video for "Collard Greens" below.
