First trailer for Oldboy remake unleashed (dir. Spike Lee) [Video]

After months and months of anticipation, today we get the first full look at the forthcoming remake of the South Korean cult classic Old Boy, directed by Spike Lee and starring Josh Brolin (who has starred in W., No Country for Old Men, Milk and True Grit) in the lead role.
Check it out in full uncut red-band glory below...

Synopsis: Joe Doucett, an advertising executive is kidnapped and held prisoner for twenty years in solitary confinement. After he is suddenly released, he goes on a mission to find the person responsible for his imprisonment, later discovering that his life is still caught in conspiracy and torment.

The remake of Oldboy (which was originally directed by Park Chan-wook and was adapted from a Japanese Manga series) has a script adapted by Mark Protosevich, who will co-produce with Roy Lee and Doug Davison for Vertigo Entertainment with Lee’s 40 Acres & A Mule.

The plot of the original movie revolved around a man named Ho Dae-su who on the day of his daughter’s birthday, gets completely drunk and gets arrested after getting bailed out he is abducted and imprisoned in a strange room for fifteen years. One day, he is suddenly released into the world and his life from then on is focused on finding out who imprisoned him so he can exact his revenge.

As a big fan of the original, I was extremely skeptical about this remake. But I looks like they didn't shy away from the violence anyway, hopefully some of the intricacies of the original will be kept intact.

Let us know what you think in the C-Section.

The Oldboy remake will be released on October 25th.

Big K.R.I.T. x Spike Lee to create short film for "Praying Man" | News

After spending a long time campaigning for Spike Lee to direct a video for his track "Praying Man", it appears as if Big K.R.I.T. has finally had some success in convincing the legendary director.

Told from the perspective of three different slaves, all of whom have unknowingly met their demise, "Praying Man" hears each slave visited by a praying man who is set to collect their souls to take to heaven. Featured on K.R.I.T.'s 2012 debut album Live From The Underground, the Mississippi emcee/producer expressed interest in creating visuals to accompany the song but only if Spike Lee directed it. After a long Twitter campaign with a hashtag message reading:

It appears as if the message finally got through to Lee and the two have discussed the potential for the short film over the phone. With no word of a date or any other information, Spike Lee thanked the fans for getting the two artists together.

Keep it locked and we'll bring you more as the story develops.
