IAMNOBODI - "Maputo Dance" | New Music

Iamnobodi - Maputo Dance

With his debut LP, Elevated, set to arrive on October 1, Düsseldorf-based producer, remixer and beatsmith IAMNOBODI premières the first single from the project. The title of the track, "Maputo Dance", is a dedication to the slums of Maputo - the capital city of Mozambique. The title's intention was to "shed light on inspiration to create no matter what sort of living environment you're immersed in".

The track boasts some bombastic bassline grooves and some smoothly chopped vocal samples that fuse well with the track's drum percussion - definitely one to get your head-nodding. Expect more soulful-funk and groove - in the mould of "Lovelite" and "Thankful" - when the album becomes available next month via Los Angeles record label Soulection.

For now, listen to/download "Maputo Dance" below.

Soulection - Time In Between | Compilation Review

Time In Between

It’s remarkable to think about what LA based label Soulection has achieved since starting up at the beginning of 2011. Having released over 25 projects from artists across the world, the label also boasts a weekly radio show that has seen a number of guests including the likes of DāM-FunK, Melo-X and Freddie Joachim.

Founded by radio host Joe Kay, visual director and artist Guillaume Bonte (aka 96) and motion designer/videographer Andre Power, the label’s first release came in the form of Soulection Compilation, a 25-track project showcasing just expansive and talented the Soulection family is. 26 releases and two years later, the label has just dropped Time In Between, the second compilation, which shows off the exponential growth the label has seen in such time, all the while keeping the project more cohesive than its predecessor. Sango - "Nujabes Juke" | New Music

Ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated LP North, Seattle beatmaker Sango has dropped off another gem to hold fans over. Whereas his last song “Vem Vem” was a Brazilian baille funk remix of Kendrick’s G.K.M.C. anthem "Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe," “Nujabes Juke” takes inspiration from the late, great Japanese producer Nujabes, sampling “Shika no Uta”, one of my favourite songs of his from the Samurai Champloo anime soundtrack. BMB SpaceKid - "Show Love" | New Music

Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s pretty rare to see a track released in celebration of women’s day, especially when it comes to electronic music. Thus I was pretty surprised when I saw that St. Petersburg native BMB SpaceKid dropped a new track called "Show Love" dedicated to celebrating the females in our lives. Read more

Sango - "Vem Vem" | New Music

Sango refuses to take a break. As one of Soulection’s most prominent acts the Seattle-producer has seen this year off to a bang, releasing a "refix" of Melo-X and Cheri Coke’s “The Interlude” and dropping a video for his remix of “The Zone” by The Weeknd & Drake, from his acclaimed More Balloons EP. The eclectic beatsmith continues to make this year his bish with his latest track “Vem Vem," a reinvention of Kendrick Lamar’s hit “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” infused with the baile funk sound fans will have grown accustomed to from previous releases, including Da Rochina (free download) and Otra Vez.
