Talib Kweli - Prisoner Of Conscious | Album Review

Two years since his previous effort Gutter Rainbows hit stores, Brooklyn rhymer Talib Kweli drops off his fifth solo album Prisoner of Conscious. With an array of featured guests, a magnitude of rhythmically responsive instrumental backdrops and more subject matters than a book of short stories, the 15 track lyrical get down is a tempo frenzy of intellectual poetry. Ghostface Killah - Twelve Reasons To Die | Album Review

Dark poetry is probably the best way to describe Ghostface Killah’s latest offering. If you’re a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies you’ll love it. Like a lyrical horr-opera, Ghostdini does what he does best by attacking every beat with his razor sharp tongue not letting up for even a second. While many are going to forever say that Ironman is the Wu-Tang [Clan] rhymer’s finest work – which it might well be – Twelve Reasons To Die is definitely of the same standard.

With solid narrative from start to finish, the return of a completely cohesive project is a beautiful thing to see and hear. Ghost’s lyrically descriptive music paints an insane picture of retaliation, revenge and get back; and putting pieces of the puzzle together becomes a satisfying game of did he/didn’t he [which once again gives your rewind button purpose]. Wu-Tang Clan live @Coachella [Video]

Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year as a clique, legendary collective The Wu-Tang Clan together tore down the Coachella stage last night with a performance those in attendance won't be forgetting in a hurry.

With all present, except for Masta Killa and the deceased Ol' Dirty Bastard (R.I.P.), the Clan ran through a gang of classics to a hyped audience. Complete with on stage orchestra [and off stage conductor] hits such as "Protect Ya Neck" and "C.R.E.A.M." reminded fans of why they fell in love with arguably one of the most important crews in Hip-Hop history.

Big ups to RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, and Inspectah Deck for one hell of a show. Peep the performance clips after the jump.

RZA presents Shaolin Soul Selection: Volume 1 [Sampler] | Stream/Download

rza shaolin soul selection

Before RZA stepped into Hollywood, he provided the sound of a revolution. Wu-Tang Clan's Enter The 36 Chambers influenced an entire generation of emcees and producers with the way the clan melded classic Stax soul samples, gritty hip-hop drums and splices of the kung-fu flicks the crew admired.

On March 19, Stax and The RZA will release Shaolin Soul Selection: Volume 1 as a tribute to the sound that birthed the Wu-Tang brand. The collection holds 24 original recordings across 2 CDs, 3 Vinyl LPs or Digital Download, whichever format you prefer.

DJ 7L contributes an album mix as a teaser for the project from Soul Temple Records.

Kanye West - "White Dress" (Alternate Version) | New Music

Kanye West's "White Dress" was one of the stand-out tracks from RZA's superb Man With The Iron Fists sound-track. The track, which was jointly produced by RZA and 'Ye, as well as GOOD Music beat-making duo Boogz & Tapez, was a soft sonnet to its protagonist's latest flame, and whilst it worked perfectly well, RZA has just returned with an alternate, unreleased version.Read more

Wu-Tang Clan x Kool G. Rap - "Rivers of Blood" | New Music

Wow, this whole Man with the Iron Fists movie business is turning out to be a great thing for hip hop. First we had a couple of Wu-Tang members reuniting for "Six Directions of Boxing," next we had RZA and Kanye joining forces for "White Dress" and now we've got a dream team of Ghostface, Raekwon and Kool G. Rap combining for a track called "Rivers of Blood." Read more

Kanye West - "White Dress" | New Music

We gave you a snippet of this the other day- well here's a full version of Kanye's "White Dress", the latest, and most anticipated, track from RZA's Man with the Iron Fists soundtrack.

The song features Kanye at his most romantic, as he raps about the woman he's desperate to see in a white dress (Kim?). Whilst his flow resembles the Kanye of Graduation, the "White Dress" imagery screams out MBDTF style superstar melancholy. Yet, despite a few hints of cynicism here and there, some of the narcissism from that album seems to have gone.'Ye is striving for a perfect romance in an imperfect world, and you can hear it in the plush, mournful production. After the heartbreak of the 808s era, this instrumental, a joint venture between RZA, Kanye, Tapez and Boogz, signals a return to soul-searching introspection.

The video, which you can watch below, shows clips and images of the typical globe-trotter's lifestyle mixed with rather more quixotic visions of traditional scenes and landscapes. From stripclubs to snake-tamers, it's an incredible journey through a cosmopolitan world.

Watch it for yourself below:

The full soundtrack drops October 23rd, buy it here.
