Swizz Beatz discusses the creation of Jay-Z's "Open Letter"

With Jay-Z's "Open Letter" setting the internet ablaze these past couple of days, Swizz Beatz, one of the beat makers responsible for constructing it, called in to Hot 97 to discuss how the track came about.

Stating the experience began as a beat started off in Jay's office, Swizzy then goes on to explain how Timbaland got involved after hearing the beat at the 40/40 Club. Also revealing that Trey Songz does in fact feature on the track (at the 2:10 mark), the short but sweet audio clip does enough to wet the appetites of the fans in need of every detail about "Open Letter".

Take a listen to Swizz's chat with Hot 97 below.

J. Cole - Truly Yours EP | Stream/Download

Wake up to some brand new music from J. Cole. With his sophomore solo album Born Sinner being delayed, the North Carolina repping rap superstar dropped off a new 5 track collection of songs for his fans. I'll let the Roc Nation signed rapper break it down in his own words.

"It’s time.

I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album.. And I have.
Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) .

Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul..

The wait is over.

Truly Yours,

Born Sinner

Truly Yours

PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share." - J. Cole
