Tinchy Stryder – Third Strike | Album Review

Tinchy Stryder has always claimed to be on cloud nine and in 2009, he very much proved that the sky is the limit. The number one selling male artist in the UK was just one of the many accolades which came from the young superstar, whose early Grime days seem like a lifetime ago.

Striking a fine balance between stylish verses and big, dance anthems, the Stryderman now finds himself courting the attention of an audience made up of raucous teen fans, respected industry figures in the UK as well as a certain Head of Roc Nation.

So what does that mean for his third album Third Strike? Will the prying eyes of all these interested parties force the Golden boy to take a more predictable route? Or does a young man who has gained so much musical power, use it to his advantage to squeeze out a differing sound altogether?Read more

Professor Green ft. Maverick Sabre - "Jungle" | Official Video

A truly brilliant song showcased by a gritty backdrop of dark cinematic visuals, engulfed in Black-on-Black violence (**Blank Stare**), reminiscent of films such as Adulthood, Shank and Bullet Boy, this is the forth single taken from UK Hip Hop artist Professor Green’s Gold selling debut album, Alive Till I’m Dead.

Featuring London born, Irish raised crooner, Maverick Sabre, ‘Jungle’ and it’s accompanying video will no doubt raise eyebrows among Professor Green’s young fan base (it raised my eyebrows and I’m from the ‘endz’… Ha!).

Then again if Giggs can do it, why can’t Professor Green?

(8 Mile anyone? No? Fair enough… No shots).

Tinchy Stryder x Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example, Chipmunk – "Game Over" (Video)

What happens when you get most of the UK's charting emcees over a heavy beat? Well, it's "Game Over", apparently. Tinchy Stryder features Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example and Chipmunk on the 6 minute long cut. You may have first caught glimpse of this heavyweight collaboration on the MOBO Awards, and now an official video has landed.

It's not the first time some of the UK's top emcees have collaborated on a track - Wiley x England 10's "She Likes To" and Wretch 32's "Be Cool" remix were incredibly great power tunes. However, it's great to see an initiative of this kind at this moment, capturing when the scene has experienced such commercial growth. These types of power-collabs have hit big Stateside (just think of any DJ Khaled song), so it'll be interesting to see how "Game Over" is received over here by audiences.

Professor Green – Alive ‘Till I’m Dead | Album Review ● 'Most times ashamedly poppy, nevertheless, the dark comedy and eclectic offerings of Alive ‘Till I’m Dead make for a satisfying alternate to achieving mainstream recognition.'

Rick Ross – Teflon Don | Album Review ● 'Whilst many titles in Hip Hop continue to be disputed (King of N.Y., King of the South) the crown of “Boss” remains on the head of one Rick Ross.'

Curren$y – Pilot Talk | Album Review 'Curren$y’s raps may tire and seem flawed on the lyric driven tracks, but he excels on the hazy, chilled out material.  “Breakfast” has a lush, sunny morning vibe to it and “Skybourne” soars with some melodic funk.'

The Roots – How I Got Over | Album Review ● 'In an era where Hip Hop and rap are dominated by mediocre talent, The Roots are a breath of fresh air because they simply don’t make albums like this anymore.'

Professor Green - Alive ‘Till I’m Dead | Album Review

The new guns of Hip Hop may believe that producing a solo mixtape will immediately lead to instant success. Maybe so - but believe it or not, there was a time when a rapper had to earn their stripes by battling on the underground circuit - just like Professor Green.

Creating a buzz thanks to his humorous and character-stripping assassinations on the mic, Pro’s success elevated him into the category of the ‘next big thing’ but  a near fatal incident put any domination plans on hold for a year. Losing none of his wit and wordplay the Professor finally drops his anticipated album which hopes to make up for lost time.

Kicking off with a funky opener in “Kids That Love To Dance” [featuring soulful UK rising talent Emeli Sande], Pro Green still displays a precision in his quick lyrical outputs, even briefly mentioning the horrendous attack he encountered; “I’m back in effect/ Got shanked in my neck now I’m back from the dead”.  Read more
