After releasing the visuals to his sophomore album's buzz single, "At Your Inconvenience", British Hip Hop artist Professor Green took a trip from his London home to a military base in Suffolk to shoot the video for the first official single, "Read All About It" featuring my future ex-wife Emeli Sandé, off his forthcoming LP. Below is behind the scenes footage of the video, where Emeli speaks on how the collaboration came about and Pro Green takes some time out to explain the video's concept. The single is set for release on Sunday 23rd October and Pro's album, At Your Inconvenience, is scheduled for release on October 31.

Professor Green Ft Emeli Sande - "Read All About It" | New Music


Following on from the title track from his sophomore album At Your Inconvenience, Hackney, East London raised rapper Professor Green opens up about the dis-functionality in his family on the heartfelt and honest "Read All About It". The track which was premiered earlier today on Mistajam's BBC 1xtra the record features the incredible singer-songwriter Emeli Sande providing the chorus alongside Pro Green's verses about his Father's suicide and it's effect on him, dealing with various family members after the incident and more. To call this touching is an understatement.

"Read All About It" (ft Emeli Sandé) is released on Sunday 23rd October and is the first official single from Pro Green's second album At Your Inconvenience out October 31st.


Urban Music Awards 2011: And The Nominees Are...


An award show nominated and voted for by music fans first hosted in 2003, the 9th annual Urban Music Awards (UMAs) will take place this year on September 14 sponsored by Corona Extra [venue TBA].

North London lyricist Wretch 32 stands strong with six nominations across the categories for Artist Of The Year, Best Single, Best Music Video, Best Collaboration [for "Unorthodox"] Best Hip Hop Act and Best Male Artist, followed by Chipmunk with five, whilst Example is up for four awards in addition to the three he shares with Wretch for their aforementioned collaboration.

Devlin, Dappy, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green and Nicki Minaj also get a look in on the emcee front, whereas on the soulful/R&B side of things Beverley Knight, Adele, Emeli Sande, Aloe Blacc, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Trey Songz, Joss Stone, Dionne Bromfield, Ed Sheeran and Maverick Sabre are all in the mix along with Loick Essien and Yasmin, with Jessie J scoring four nominations and Katy B up for Best Female Artist, Artist Of The Year and Best Album for her On A Mission debut.

The UMA’s 2011 will be syndicated for broadcast in over seven countries across Europe, followed by the launch of the UMA 2011 compilation album featuring a mix of talent from Europe. Open to "music fans who have nominated for all the categories," registered voting is currently live until September 10 at www.urbanmusicawards.net.

Histories of Hip Hop with Akala @SouthbankCentre, London | Event Review


A weekend of events celebrating hip hop at the Southbank Centre in Central London kicked off on July 14 with a presentation by UK rapper and poet Akala breaking down the musical history and origins of hip hop music,joined by Sona Jobarteh who is a member of one of the five principal kora playing, also known as Griot families from West Africa and the first female kora player to come from this prestigious musical family.

Having won a multitude of awards including the BT Digital Music Breakthrough Artist of the Year, MOBO Best hip hop/grime act and NME Best Dancefloor filler, Professor Green is back with the first track from his forthcoming sophomore album release At Your Convenience.

Debuted on BBC Radio 1 for the first time just yesterday, "At Your Inconvenience" is the title track of the upcoming album which is expected to be released August 22nd, and if its anything like this, (cheeky, funny and rude) I'm excited.

Earlier last week production outfit True Tiger were joined by Professor Green & Maverick Sabre to perform at a special BBC Radio 1 live lounge session at the 2012 Olympic Stadium site. They not only performed their new single "In The Air" (watch the official video here) live, they also performed a very dope special cover version of Aloe Blacc's smash hit "I Need A Dollar". Here is the video for the Watford and London representing production/DJ collective True Tiger's first official single "In The Air" featuring Professor Green and Maverick Sabre. The single was premiered by Mistajam on Radio 1 and 1xtra back in April and will be available for purchase on the 12th of June. Watch the video in full below.

Now that's what I call a f**king creative visual, round of applause to True Tiger for this clip. I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of the collective's debut album which will be released later this year.

Tinchy Stryder, Jessie J & RD headline MTV's Brand New for 2011 @KOKOLondon | Live Review


On 25th January MTV brought their Blackberry sponsored Brand New for 2011 project from the TV and internet screens and live to North London’s KOKO. The first night of the MTV live shows, the sold-out concert featured an urban line-up with Tinchy Stryder headlining [pictured above].

I’m continually impressed with how many mobile phone and technology companies are beginning to understand the real commercial prowess their technology can enable. Blackberry, who’ve long-recognised that their unique selling point is communication, invited audience members to add the event’s special Blackberry Messenger pin to send messages, which appeared on a big screen between performances. Performances were also segued with VTs of the Brand New for 2011 candidates, which include two of the night’s acts, RD and Jessie J. Read more

Professor Green attacker sentenced to 8 years jailtime


In May 2009, MOBO Award winning UK rap artist Professor Green, real name Stephen Manderson, was left fighting for his life after a violent assault outside a night club, in which he was stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle.

Earlier today MTV reported the Metropolitan Police's confirmation that convicted attacker Anthony Jones, found guilty last year of grievous bodily harm with intent, has been jailed for eight years. Read more
