Mike Skinner unveils "2 Many Whisky Sours" instrumental | New Music

After the release of their last album Computers and Blues, multi-platinum selling British Hip Hop outfit The Street disbanded with lead vocalist Mike Skinner vowing to retire from music altogether and concentrate on writing movie scripts. Well that quickly proved false as he returned with a new musical movement called The D.O.T and it seems as though the hip hop music bug has either bitten the artist again or never left as to the surprise his loyal fanbase Mike took to his Twitter account and tweeted an all new instrumental.Read more

Professor Green - At Your Inconvenience | Album Review

If 2011 has taught the members of #TeamUK anything it's that the 100 metre race they initially thought they were running is actually as long distance event. The early successes which many had achieved have now become a memory as the pressures to maintain such standards becomes harder. Longevity in music has always been linked to acclaimed albums - and battle rapper-turned-UK phenomenon Professor Green takes on the arduous challenge of producing the ever cited 'difficult second album'. At Your Inconvenience follows on from a very successful year for the Walthamstow rapper, claiming plaudits both from commercial and specialist platforms. Balancing the two has never been more difficult, so it's a just matter of whether the professor chooses to favour one of the two markets or remain persistent in creating the anecdote for gratifying both masses.

Professor Green's tops UK Singles Chart with "Read All About It" | Music News

A few hours ago it was announced that award winning British Hip Hop artist Professor Green scored his first ever UK number 1 with first single, "Read All About It" featuring Emeli Sandé, off his sophomore LP At Your Inconvenience.

The success of this single marks the third time the East Londoner has entered the top 5 in the UK singles charts. The former Hip Hop battle rap champion rose to underground fame battling embarrassing and destroying many of the UK's most respected battle rap emcees including Saint, Rob Swift, Super Ted, Shinobi as well as British Hip Hop veteran MC Life (one third of Phi Life Cypher). Soon after roasting many of the UK's battle emcees Pro Green went on to battle (at the time) some of the worlds greatest and most lyrical emcees at the 2005 Mixshow Power Summit.

Fast forward to 2011, Pro, who signed his first major label deal with The Streets' now defunct label, The Beats (formally home to Example and The Mitchell Brothers), is now top of the UK's single charts after beating out Labrinth's self produced Tinie Tempah assisted single "Earthquake" (which many music industry insiders thought would go straight to the top spot) and knocking Rihanna and Calvin Harris' collaboration "We Found Love" into No.3.

Tomorrow will see the release Pro's sophomore LP At Your Inconvenience via Virgin/EMI which many believe could also chart high on the official UK Album Charts. The 15 track opus features collaborations with a diverse cast of artists including Rinse, US Rock singer Sierra KusterbeckEd DrewettLuciana and Slaughterhouse‘s Royce Da 5’9″.

As someone who witnessed Professor Green's rise to the top from his old battle rap days, I would like to wish Pro, on behalf of the entire Soulculture family, a huge congratulations on the success of his current single and continued success throughout this campaign. I am genuinely proud of Professor Green, to say he has come a long way would be a gross understatement.

Keep up the good work... Sky is the limit!

Fink - Perfect Darkness | Album Review

As the name suggests, Perfect Darkness takes on the chiaroscuro effects it evokes, and forms a deep thunderous catharsis with the voice of a melancholic baritone acoustic singer called Fink. Fink's fifth album sounds like a broken man who’s torn away the passions of his heart and laid it to rest onto this CD – it feels like a modern day Greek tragedy. Produced by Billy Bush (Beck, Garbage), Fin Greenall and his band produced this album in the space of 20 days.  Recorded in Los Angeles, the Brighton-based singer/songwriter wanted to capture the raw, organic urgency of fear onto his album - and from the opening number, I can safely say that Perfect Darkness well executes their conception with heart-throbbing accuracy.
