Papoose - "First Chain (Remix)" (Big Sean Diss) | New Music

Not content with loading up artillery for Kendrick Lamar in response to his “King of New York” line on Big Sean’s “Control Freestyle”, it appears the Brooklyn native has now turned his attentions to Sean himself with a brand new diss track. The cause of this outburst being Papoose appears to have taken offence to Big Sean commenting "Who is Papoose?" when speaking in a recent interview with Power 105's The Breakfast Club.

Pap responds here in the only way he knows best - with some heavyweight and direct bars over Sean's own Hall Of Fame album track "First Chain".

Take a listen to the freestyle below, and let us know what you think in the C-section below.

Papoose definitely got some good jabs in (although I feel he took things a bit too far and personal), but I think he and many others don't seem to understand what exactly Kendrick Lamar was saying on that verse and taking certain things literally. But that's just my opinion, let us know what you think in the C-Section

Papoose - The Nacirema Dream | Album Review

They say that time is a healer. However, for Brooklyn rhymer Papoose time hasn’t been the kindest of souls. His official arrival on the scene back in 2004 came at a time when records were selling and rap was the toast of the commercial market. With 50 Cent then the hottest thing out, Papoose’s buzz trumped that of the G-Unit General’s with ease. Appearing on every hot record at the time - notably the all star remix to Busta Rhymes’ “Touch It” - there was no stopping the kid. With a reported $1.5 million deal on the table too, all that was left to do was drop the album.

Having always been titled The Nacirema Dream (Nacirema being the word American backwards), problems arose for the young upstart when he and mentor DJ Kayslay decided to remake the album due to his unexpected commercial popularity. Instead of releasing the album as it was, which tailored more towards his mixtape roots - he won a Justo Mixtape Award for Best Underground Artist in 2005 - he succumbed to the requests of collaborations with the likes of Pharrell Williams and Kanye West. Time went on, perfection began to take over, and then Papoose in 2007 packed his bags and left Jive Records citing A&R issues.

Today finally seeing the light of day, The Nacirema Dream is a surprisingly good body of work with momentary dents. Read more

Papoose freestyles on Sway In The Morning [Video]

Looking to rejuvinate a career that's been stale for a number of years now, New York lyricist Papoose took to Sway Calloway's Sway In The Morning show on Shade 45 to showcase those tough-talking bars. Faced with the customary "5 Fingers of Death" challenge, in which DJ Wonder posed a variety Hip-Hop, Dance and Rock beats to the Bed Stuy rapper, it's safe to say Papoose went five-for-five. Papoose - "2011 Obituary" | New Music

In my opinion, NY's Papoose is one of rap's best lyricists and one of the most slept on rappers when you check his ability on his past records from "Alphabet Slaughter", "Let's Play Monopoly" and "Love Is A Battlefield." He just dropped his annual obituary borrowing Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "Crossroads", where he pays homage to those who left us in the psychical in 2011. Read more

Papoose - "Otis" | Music Video

Brooklyn rapper Papoose has taken to the streets of NY (and a record shop) to shoot some visuals to accompany his version of "Otis," directed By Doggie Diamonds. The original by Jay Z and Kanye West will feature on their forthcoming collaborative album Watch The Throne, but Pap jumped on the beat which samples the vocals of the great Otis Redding and gave it his own Bed-Stuy swag. Peep the video below.

Papoose takes on Jay-Z & Kanye West's "Otis" | New Music

It was bound to happen, with a track this dope (in my opinion) the whole world and their mother will be creating their own versions and freestyling on the beat, but I didn't foresee Papoose being one of the first to take on Jay-Z & Kanye West's monster Otis Redding sampling "Otis" single from Watch The Throne.
