Das Racist is done and dusted | Music News

It appears that New York alt-rap trio Das Racist are no more. According to announcements made via Twitter and live in Munich, the group of rap nerds, who first emerged in 2008 with their blog hit "Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell", have split up. And it's no joke. Read more

Das Racist sign one-album deal with Sony | Music News

While the indie route has served Queens-based rap trio Das Racist well, with releases like Shut Up, Dude, Sit Down, Man and last year's Relax LP contributing largely to their current success, Heems, Kool A.D. and Dapwell will be taking their unique talents to the big leagues next year, having signed a one-album deal with Sony.Read more

Kool A.D. of Das Racist - 'Al Green' | Music Video

As if the music itself wasn't left of centre enough, Kool A.D., the slick-rhyming puzzle piece in the Das Racist trio, shows us how quirky he can get on the camera (not like that) for his recent free solo album, 51. Succeeding the hotel-bound, rain-making party (which included a chicken, not to forget) that was the "La Piñata" music video, here we have footage for Victor Vasquez's "Al Green" album cut.Read more

Angel Haze - 'Reservation' [Free Album] | Free Download

After giving us the trio of leaks with "New York", "Werkin' Girls" and "Hot Like Fire", NYC's newest buzzing femcee Angel Haze looks to broaden her ever-growing fanbase with the release of her free album, Reservation. Over the 14-track selection, Ms. Haze demonstrates her talent for both melodic croons and fiery, assertive lyricism, joined by songstress Nicole Wray and Das Racist emcee Kool A.D. The record is co-executive produced by Le'roy Benros and Haze herself.Read more

Das Racist f/ Roc Marciano - 'Roc Marciano Joint' (Dir. Dallas Penn) | Music Video

After giving The Alchemist and Meyhem Lauren's "Crushed Kremlin" a new look last month, internet famous blogger, personality and all-round hip-hopper Dallas Penn returns with his comic book reference points to give Das Racist and Roc Marciano's fittingly-titled "Roc Marciano Joint" its overdue set of visuals. The cut may be taken from the trio's 2010 mixtape, Sit Down, Man, but some footage from the X-Men cartoon series maintains the freshness.Read more

Das Racist x Talib Kweli - 'The Actual' (Prod. Amaze 88) | New Music

It's new NYC meets old NYC today as stylistic Queens reps Das Racist team up with veteran Brooklyn-bred lyricist Talib Kweli for "The Actual". Occupying turf somewhere between traditional East Coast boom bap and new wave erraticism (think MF DOOM), Amaze 88's instrumental serves as the meeting point for Kool A.D. and Heems' off-kilter rhymes with Kweli's masterful delivery.Read more

Kool A.D. (of Das Racist) - 'La Piñata' | Music Video

As if Kool A.D.'s brand new solo release 51 wasn't quirky enough, the Das Racist genius/comedian (delete as appropriate) only gives us a matter of days before transplanting the project in front of a camera. It's the "La Piñata" cut that's first in line - and yes, you're right, there is too much fun to be had with a title like that. Read more

Kool A.D. of Das Racist announces new album + drops "Ticky Ticky" f/ Main Attrakionz | Music News

Queens, New York's Das Racist are an odd bunch. That's not meant as an insult, more of a "these guys are the only ones truly going against the grain" observation. Having established themselves as a staple in the semi-sarcastic, semi-genius rap sub-genre (see: Lil B), the trio, comprised of Heems, Kool A.D. and loopy hypeman Dap, have planned to part ways temporarily to experiment with bars, verses and humour further as solo artists.Read more

Kool A.D. (of Das Racist) – The Palm Wine Drinkard (Mixtape) | Free Download

Das Racist have really grown on me these past 12 months. Although the group are still tight, the trio each plan to release a solo mixtape, with Kool A.D. up to the plate first. Kool reminds of that quirky-cool kid who you might spot in the corner of the library, probably reading up on 1960's American sub-culture while rolling a J. Nope, just me?

Anyway, The Palm Wine Drinkard's tracklist and download link are below, where you'll discover a classic Das Racist clusterf**k of "I don't know what the hell it means but it sounds kinda dope".Read more
