Meek Mill - "Ooh Kill Em" (Kendrick Lamar Response) | New Music

Meek Mill - Oooo Kill Em

Meek Mill joins the party fashionably late, finally delivering his official response to Kendrick Lamar's "Control" verse.

The Philly rapper certainly appears to be gathering as much momentum as possible in the run-up to the release of his upcoming Dream Chasers 3 mixtape, as this response follows up a diss track directed at Cassidy which surfaced two days ago - well he did say Kendrick was next right?

The weapon of choice this time around is a reworked version of Dr. Dre's "Forgot About Dre" who ironically is Kendrick's boss at Aftermath/Interscope. Meek kicks off the freestyle all guns blazing, elaborating on his notion that "I do it for the streets" and Kendrick makes music "for the n***** with the backpacks".

Heavy references can be found all over this one including TerRio's infamous "Ohh Kill Em!", Kendrick's gun sound-effect (found on "The Jig Is Up") as well as Nas vs. Jay-Z and Biggie vs. 2 Pac conflicts amongst others. Surprisingly this response is rather short, at 2:22 in duration, and appears to sway more towards entertainment value.

Take a listen to "Ooh Kill Em" below and let us know what you think.

Meek Mill - "Kendrick You Next" Freestyle (Cassidy Diss) | New Music

Meek Mill

In preparation for his highly anticipated Dreamchasers 3 mixtape, Meek Mill steps into battle the arena taking aim at fellow Philadelphia rapper Cassidy on this brand new freestyle titled  "Kendrick You Next".

The MMG rapper delivers a no-holds-barred lyrical onslaught and some personal jabs in the direction of The Hustla over a medley of classic Hip-hop instrumentals, fittingly kicked off by 2 Pac's legendary "Hit 'Em Up". Towards the end we hear Meek suggest that Kendrick Lamar could just be next in the line of fire saying:

"And this s*** called Kendrick You Next. I'm just on some s*** this time around, everybody get it. You say my name.. I give you a thousand. It's just that simple".

With the fresh sense of competition we currently have it surely won't be long until we hear responses from Cassidy and Kendrick in some shape or form.

We can also expect to hear something extra special for the TDE rapper on the intro for DC3 with Meek tweeting: "Ima catch Kendrick on da intro I ain't forget! Lol" followed by "But really everybody gone get it on Dat new intro!".

Take a listen to Meek Mill's new Cassidy Diss below, as well as some exclusive in-studio footage as the freestyle was recorded.

Hip-Hop Roundup: Charts, Control, Pusha Teasers & Shady's Berzerk

The VMA aftermath was quite a messy one, but after the empty cups have been swept up and I've seen enough Miley Cyrus GIFS to question my existence, it's time for us to get back to some real music.

Last week was full of hits, releases and news in Hip-Hop and if like Kanye you were out performing for the Kazakhstan President, you might not have had time to keep up. If your excuse isn't quite as grandeur (maybe it was only the head of Belarus), don't worry, we won't judge, we are however on hand to help as we stack up the top 5 moments in Hip-Hop of the week gone by. Kendrick Lamar speaks on "Control" verse, the responses and misconceptions in detail

kendrick lamar

After firing the shot that was heard around the world aka the infamous "Control" verse, Kendrick Lamar has finally broken his silence on the impactful record.

In a preview of an interview that will be aired tomorrow on Big Boy's Neighborhood, Lamar breaks down the controversial line that had East Coast rappers up in arms: "I'm the king of New York." "The irony of that line is, for the people who actually understood it and got it, was the actual kings of NY, who's been down with me the past week, and them understanding it's not about being the king of whatever coast," said the West Coast spitter. "It's about leaving my mark as great as Biggie, as great as 'Pac."

The full interview will be released tomorrow morning on Power 106's Big Boy's Neighborhood. There will also be another interview with Kendrick Lamar hitting the New York airwaves tomorrow morning on Hot 97.
