JoJo - "Disaster" | Music Video

Back in 2004, 13-year-old JoJo scored a worldwide hit with her debut single "Leave (Get Out)". The years that followed saw the release of a sophomore album, a fall out with her record label and then a brief hiatus. After releasing a mixtape last year, the now 20-year-old singer returns with a new album Jumping Trains (due to be released in 2012, six years after her last full-length).

"Disaster" is the lead single from that album - it impacted US Top 40 radio last week and the video's just dropped directed by Benny Boom.

Travis Garland x JoJo - "Paint" | New Music

Following the buzz of her recent "Marvin's Room" remix, JoJo and Travis Garland express desires to get down and dirty over a sample of Jai Paul's "BTSTU". “I just want to do you in the paint. I want to make love to you in the place. Rollin’ around in the mess that we made. Brushin’ and strokin’, the best sex we made...” Graphic.

The song will appear on Travis Garland's upcoming mixtape. Meanwhile JoJo is currently working on her upcoming album Jumping Trains expected later this year.

JoJo - "Guardian Angel‎" | New Music

R&B singer JoJo's third studio album Jumping Trains has sprung a leak in the form of this mid tempo track "Guardian Angel." This track accompanied by a drum beat and simple guitar melody again shows the recent musical growth we've seen from JoJo - along with another track entitled "Limbo" from the upcoming album - and her well received cover of"Marvin's Room."

We're still yet to get a definite date for the release of Jumping Trains but will let you know when the date is released.

Chris Brown remixes Drake's "Marvin's Room" | New Music

(Whoa moments after Chris Brown released this Drake dropped the official "Marvin's Room" video! Watch it here)
I don't know what it is about Drake's "Marvin's Room", but everybody wants to go and do a remix or a freestyle on it. Following versions by Jojo and Teyana Taylor, Chris Brown the young R&B star who won big at the BET awards this weekend is the latest artist to jump on the Canadian Young Money representative's cut from the forthcoming Take Care album.

Chris takes it to that EX who keeps calling his girl on the phone... Talk to him Chris!

What do you guys think of Chris' version?

Jojo - "Limbo" | New Music

I'm personally loving the growth we are seeing from Jojo. The young star who has been quiet for a few years mostly due to record label issues, released a mixtape Can't Take That Away From Me a short while ago, dropped a buzz single "The Other Chick", killed her remix of Drake's "Marvin's Room" and new we have another dope track in the form of "Limbo" which is rumoured to be from her forthcoming album Jumping Trains which is set for release later this year.

Jodeci's Diary Of A Mad Band LP revisited with Prince Charles Alexander | Return To The Classics

Diary Of A Mad Band was released on December 21, 1993 by Uptown/MCA Records. After achieving triple platinum status with their first release, Forever My Lady, Jodeci announced their return in resounding fashion with their sophomore album. Continuing their trademark sound centered on soulful balladry, Jodeci landed legions of adoring fans from both sexes alike for their real life lyrics and incredible musicianship contained inside of each song.

This album would see the group expanding their sound on the second half of the album by experimenting more with Hip Hop music infused with traditional R&B. The writing and production talents of Devante Swing were on full display once again with contributions from Mr. Dalvin, Timbaland and Missy Elliot. K-Ci’s vocal prowess was reminiscent of early 1970s soul singers such as Bobby Womack and his brother Jojo’s upper register delivered indelible notes that gave a distinguishable feel to each song, which set them aside from their contemporaries.

Jodeci consisted of the perfect amalgamation between the production and songwriting talents of the DeGrate brothers, Donald “Devante Swing” DeGrate and Dalvin “Mr. Dalvin” DeGrate and the incomparable vocals of the Hailey Brothers, Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and Joel “JoJo” Hailey. This album would propel the brothers into a new realm of superstardom and cement their legacy as one of the best R&B groups of not only the 1990s, but in the history of the genre.

The DeGrate and Hailey brothers came from families steeped in the gospel music tradition for years. Both sets of brothers traveled extensively on the gospel music circuit and were well accomplished performers and musicians.

The DeGrate brothers served as pianist and drummer for their father, Rev. Donald Degrate’s gospel group, The DeGrate Delegation. The Hailey Brothers were performers in their father’s gospel group, Little Cedric and The Hailey Singers. The pair of brothers met in the late 1980s and formed the group Jodeci in 1990. They eventually received their big break in the fall of the same year. Their debut album Forever My Lady only foreshadowed what was to come from the group.

Between January 1993- August 1993 Diary Of A Mad Band was recorded in the Hit Factory Studios in Manhattan, New York.

SoulCulture recently sat down with Prince Charles Alexander, the audio engineer, mixer and studio musician for the album to give some insight on how the album became a success.

JoJo flips Drake's "Marvins Room" | New Music

JoJo is a bad bitch! Sorry, but she is for reals!

She's been under the radar over the past few years after dealing with some label dramas since her last album release back in 2007, but dropped a mixtape at the end of last year called Cant Take That Away From Me to warm us up for her new album Jumping Trains, expected before the end of this year.

After putting her spin on Drake's "HoustonAtlantaVegas" in 2009, she's flipped Drizzy's latest offering "Marvin's Room" and put her touch on it using her new, edgier sound where a sultry sounding, sleep deprived JoJo reminds her ex why she's the best he ever had. The track features production by Jordan Gatsby and additional vocals from Travis Garland.

Ladies, your time.

Jojo - "Marvins Room":

[Props: Rap-Up]

“Fuck that new girl that you like so bad/ She’s not crazy like me, I bet you like that/ I said fuck that new girl that’s been in your bed/ And when you’re in her, I know I’m in your head”

JoJo talks new album Jumping Trains and working with The Stereotypes (Video)

Honestly, I'm still getting used to JoJo being a grown woman - she was only 13 when she dropped hit single "Leave (Get Out)", so if she's 19 now, I must be getting really damn old.

Anyway, after a few years away (owing mostly to record label issues), she's dropping a new album, Jumping Trains, in 2011 and has been working with in vogue R&B production team Stereotypes (who produced Tank's "Celebration" and Far East Movement's "Rocketeer") , as well as a handful of other big hitters.

JoJo - "The Other Chick" | New Music

An all grown up JoJo returns with 'The Other Chick,' on which the Boston hailing R&B singer makes the startling discovery that she was the girl on the side, in full pop stride; I thought that girl was a joke, but she's laughing at me... come to find out that I'm the other chick and you never loved me,' later triumphantly adding, 'Oh yeah, by the way - I faked it every time.... BBM sad face. BBM wink.

'The Other Chick's enraged lyrics sit on a bed of light, rhythmic drums offset with intrusive synths on the first single from JoJo's upcoming third album Jumping Trains, due for release this year through Interscope - take a listen below.

Jojo - "Paper Airplanes" | New Music

Some new music from the very talented Jojo.

The Stargate-produced "Paper Airplanes" was leaked at the back end of last year as a snippet and with tags but now we can enjoy the full version in all of it's glory. It's not known if the track will surface on Jojo's third studio album Jumping Trains.

Listen and download below.
