JoJo - 'Agápē' [Mixtape] | Stream/Download

Earlier this week, serially underrated R&B star JoJo made her new tape/album Agápē  available for streaming, and now the sultry singing talent returns to release the project in full as a free download.

The 13-track album, which you can listen to below, should demonstrate the next stage in the evolution of JoJo's sound. Since her early breakthrough as a teenage sensation, she's had more than her fair share of ups and downs (I'm looking at you, major labels) but here, aided by her contemporaries Elijah Blake and The Backpackkids, she's able to vent with mature melodies and well-crafted lyrics.

Have a listen below and download the project here.

[For all those who were wondering, Agápē means unconditional love in Greek.]

Jojo - Agápē [Mixtape] | Stream

After giving us "We Get By" and "Andre", Jojo gives us a chance to listen to her forthcoming mixtape/free album Agápē ahead of it's December 20th release.

Premiered by Complex the 13-track sophomore mixtape project, which was created with some of her peers including Elijah Blake and The Backpackkids (Austin Brown, Scott Bruzenak, & Tommy Parker), showcases a healthy growth and mature sound from the rising star making this effort stronger (in my opinion) than quite a few commercial R&B releases in the last 5 years. Take a listen below and let us know what you think in the C-Section.

Agápē will be released on December 20th.

JoJo talks label politics + a new direction; "I was told it wasn’t ok to like the music I liked"

For those living in a bubble, or those who just enjoy staying ignorant, the record industry can be a cold and unkind place to reside at the best of times. The dog eat dog mentality has seen some of the most promising careers fall by the wayside.

However, there are those who continue to fight the power, ride it out, and make the best of a bad situation. Sitting down with SoulCulture, Joanna Noelle Blagden Lavesque, better known as pop starlet JoJo, is one of said people.

Starting her musical journey at the age of 12, signing with Blackground Records - made famous by the likes of Aaliyah and Timbaland, her self-titled debut album was released back in 2004. Selling millions of records worldwide, JoJo went on to become a pretty big deal.

The thing is, her last official release was 2006’s The High Road. Read more
