Saigon - "Blown Away" | Music Video

Saigon's sophomore album The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 2: Bread & Circuses (tracklist here) drops tomorrow (on Election Day) and it's shaping up to be a mature, politically-aware showing from The Yardfather.

After dropping three video-accompanied singles already, Saigon's back with a fourth, entitled "Blown Away", which comes complete with a hard-hitting political message. The visuals show Sai giving an impassioned black history lesson to youths, whilst clips of martyred Civil Rights campaigners and socially conscious artists play out in the background. As he tells the tragic stories of MLK, Huey Newton, Marvin Gaye and more, the New York rapper struggles to keep the attentions of the younger generation, until eventually, his own assumption of a revolutionary role has Saigon staring down the barrel of a gun.

Watch "Blown Away" for yourself below:

Sai's also dropped a 16-minute album sampler which allows us deeper insight into the project. With the "Vote Saigon" tagline and the deep subject matter of some of these songs, Bread & Circuses will be well worth a listen.  Pre-order it here and have a listen to the snippets below:

Rilgood - 'We Rollin 2' | Music Video

With a growing catalog of tunes behind him, up-and-coming Brooklyn spitter Rilgood gets in front of the camera for some fresh material. Rilgood f/ B. Smith - "Gun" | New Music

Wasting little time after the release of his well received JFK mixtape (which stirred the interest of a few labels I'm told, but let's keep schtum about that for now), Dot Da Genius' artist Rilgood returns with the first leak from his next project, Great Expectations. The track, entitled "Gun", features B.Smith (who guested on JFK's "Automatic" cut) and serves as a powerful tribute to the tragic Trayvon Martin case. Read more

Rilgood ft. B. Smith – "Automatic" | New Music

You'll have to grant me a late pass on this one. Premiered on HYPETRAK a fortnight ago, "Automatic" is the latest single from Brooklyn artist Rilgood who, mentored by Kid Cudi's go-to producer, Dot Da Genius, already boasts impressive industry co-signs. While this cut will feature on Ril's JFK mixtape (which is set to drop on on February 20th - President's Day in the States), two further records from the project will feature in the upcoming Keanu Reeves movie, Generation Um. Big looks for such a new artist.Read more

MUSIC NEWS: Erykah Badu Charged With Indecent Exposure

Oh dear.

It seems not everyone was sympathetic towards Erykah's 'political' nudity point in her new promo for 'Window Seat'. Reports say she's gone and got herself charged as a result of complaints from passers-by on the street in Dallas - Badu's hometown - where the video was filmed. And here's me thinking the whole thing was staged with permission from the municipality and that those were extras in the background.

Click here for the full story.

It could be said that the protest backfired but I can't help thinking this is exactly the kind of result Ms Badu expected or even wanted. After all, they say there's no such thing as bad publicity...
