N.O.R.E. (AKA P.A.P.I.) discusses Illmatic, Biggie vs Buckshot x Guru with DJ Drama [Video]

nore1

Catching up with DJ Drama for his first ever interview with the radio personality, N.O.R.E. (AKA P.A.P.I.) discusses Nas' Illmatic, the time Guru (of Gangstarr) came to Lefrak, and the jail conversations about who's better, Biggie or Buckshot.

Besides being on Drama's Shade 45 show to promote his recent release Student Of The Game, N.O.R.E. explains why he and Drama never did a Gangsta Grillz mixtape [while also claiming that they're still going to do it], as well as bigging up Nas' debut album Illmatic - released exactly nineteen years ago to the day [of the interview].

Throughout the interview the two also play a lot of N.O.R.E. classics including the original version [that according to N.O.R.E. not too many people have] of Capone-N-Noreaga's "L.A. L.A.". Peep the interview after the jump.

Big Shug x DJ Premier - "We Miss You" (Guru's 50th Birthday Tribute) | New Music

On April 19th 2010, one Hip Hop’s most revered emcees and one half of the legendary Gang Starr, Guru, passed away after losing his battle with Cancer. Today, Sunday July 17th, would have marked a special mile stone in emcee's life as he would have celebrated his 50th birthday.
Although the veteran emcee can't be here to celebrate, that hasn't stopped longtime friends Big Shug and the legendary DJ Premier from putting together a special tribute for their late friend. The track, entitled "We Miss You", finds GangStarr affiliate Big Shug reminiscing about many times he spent with Guru and Premo.

To be honest, I've found it difficult to listen to this track. Even one year on, his passing and the way it was handled by Solar still bothers me to my core.
