Taking a more interactive/multi-media approach to her music, the singer reveals her DNA in the music video. Björk performs "Thunderbolt" on Later with Jools Holland | TV Catch-Up

Icelandic singer Björk took to the BBC studios in the final installment of this season's Later... with Jools Holland to perform her track "Thunderbolt."

The song is lifted from the album Biophilia, which was released in October and was in part recorded on an iPad. The album is in fact her eighth full length studio album and was released in parts via a series of apps.

Björk has always been someone who redefines musical boundaries and the album and performances go along with this theme that has been prevalent throughout her career.

Filmed at the iconic Icelandic singer’s residency at the Manchester International Festival this summer where she world premiered Biophilia in its entirely which was met with critical acclaim. Björk - "Crystalline" | Official Music Video (Dir. Michel Gondry)

The knitted creatures from vintage BBC stop motion animated kids show Clangers are the only things missing from the intergalactic, Michel Gondry steered video for "Crystalline," Björk's lead single from her new album Biophilia. Debuted live at Manchester International Festival this month, Biophilia was partly recorded on an ipad and is set for release through a series of apps later this year.

For those hoping to catch her live, Björk is scheduled to perform at this year's Bestival on September 11, plus eight shows during the Iceland Airwaves Festival at Harpa in October and November.

Eccentric Icelandic singer, songwriter and composer and occasional actress Bjork has just announced a string of UK performance dates as part of the Manchester International Festival to be held later this Summer, during which she will exclusive preview new material from her forthcoming Biophilia album.

Originally launched in 2007, the Manchester International Festival is the world’s first festival of original, new work and special events and takes place biennially, in Manchester, UK, "presenting new works from across the spectrum of performing arts, visual arts and popular culture."

In a special collaboration with MIF, the Biophilia show will travel to major cities around the world following the Manchester premiere. Read more

London A Cappella Festival (Jan 15) | Review

I was beside myself with enthusiasm when I heard about the third annual London A Cappella Festival, curated by the world renowned, multi-Grammy winning, unaccompanied harmony group The Swingles. What a splendid way to kick start 2011; an event dedicated to that element of music closest to my heart: harmonies!

The festival’s grand finale took place at Kings Place in Central London last Saturday 15 January. The day was, not surprisingly, chock-a-block with fun activities. I signed myself up to a workshop and the main live events and was away. Read more
