US music sales on the increase for first time in 7 years | Music News

For the first time since 2004 U.S. music album sales grew in the first six months of 2011 from a year ago, according to tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan due to rising sales of digital tracks and albums. Overall album sales rose nearly four percent to 221.5 million units, from 213.6 million compared to year ago which includes CD sales.

The top-selling album was Adele's 21, with 2.5 million albums sold, with Lady Gaga's Born This Way coming second with 1.5 million albums, which is most likely down to to a promotion on online shop that sold her album for 99 cents.

Beyonce's 4 takes the number one spot in the UK album chart | News

Beyonce has shot straight in at number one in the official UK album charts with 4, knocking Adele's 21 from the top spot to number two.

After her headlining appearance at the Glastonbury Festival last weekend, 4 has sold 89,000 units making this her second number one album over here in the UK with the track "Best Thing I Never Had" making its debut at number three in the singles list. As well as this, "Run The World" is at 23 and "Irreplaceable" from the B'Day album from 2006 is at number 26.

The lesson from this is, if your album is looking like it may flop headline Glastonbury and you will be vindicated.

Jokes aside she does her thing and even if you don't like her, you have to respect her!

Salutes to King B.
