R.I.P Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010)


The legendary singer and actress Lena Horne has died in New York.
Lena Mary Calhoun Horne was born June 30, 1917 in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn died yesterday May 9, 2010 at the age of 92.

Ms Horne played Selina Rogers in the 1943 film musical Stormy Weather, the title song of which became and still is a major classic.
Her career spanned more than 6 decades battling racism early on to become what has been called “Hollywood’s first black sex symbol”.
